Anthems to unite communities

Anthems can be of different types - national anthems, corporate anthems, and sports anthems to name a few. They are supposed to induce a sense of togetherness and belongingness in people who believe in the particular organization. Anyone can flaunt their pride through an anthem irrespective of the kind of organization he or she is a part of.

Here's one such anthem called the BITSAA Anthem I sang in collaboration with the Bangalore based band, Agam. The song talks about the band members' memories about their alma mater, BITS Pilani. Do listen.

Making music for your fans v/s finding fans for your music

If you're a musician, you have two options - one, make music for your fans and two, find fans for your music. Sometimes, there comes a third option, which is finding a sweet spot between the two. In the third option, what matters is the weightage given to each of the options. If you could figure the right measure out, there's a high chance of you becoming a reputed musician who is successful financially as well.

To put things in perspective, Indian music thrives and survives significantly on film industry. I would like to call film music as something for the masses and it comes under our first category, which is making music for the fans. The emerging trend of independent musicians and their multi-genre tracks will come under the second category, which is finding fans for the music made. In the latter case, the music is catered for a particular kind of audience and not necessarily for the masses.

Personally, I would love to see the success rate of the third category as it would be an interesting aspect to analyze and develop further. In my case, I'm yet to find that sweet spot between what I can and what I'm supposed to do.

Song of the Season [Autumn] - Music Video

We love watching and admiring beautiful flowers but, how often do we notice what the leaves have to offer? Probably, we notice leaves more as an edible stuff and less as a thing of beauty. Autumn is the time to shift our attention to leaves. I consider Autumn as nature's canvas emphasizing vibrancy of leaves.

Here's the music video from the Song of the Season project's Autumn special. The video portrays the best of Fall season - an imagery of city life, roads and nature. My take is from the song's melody's perspective or what I felt when I heard the melody line. Watch the video and I'm sure you will feel as though you are in one of nature's art galleries.

Introducing Thematic Music Series with Song of the Season

Introducing a Thematic series of songs/music videos in Sou's Voice, starting with Song of the Season project. The reason for starting the thematic music series is to encourage everyone to notice the wonders around us. More often, we don't value the beauty of things surrounding us taking them for granted. This project is intended to inspire people to practice gratitude and celebrate life thereby, spreading positivity around. Ultimately, how much positivity we spread is all that matters in life. This is just a humble effort from my side to leave a positive digital footprint that can help make the world a much better place to live in.

Its officially, Fall in Wisconsin and one of my favorite seasons of the year. For some reason, the first song that came to my mind when I thought about this project was Kya Janoo Sajan from Dil Vil Pyaar Vyaar.
